Do You Believe in the Rapture?

Do You Believe in the Rapture?
“That night two people will be asleep in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour together at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.” Luke 17:34-35 NLT

Whether or not you believe in the Rapture of the Church, I’m going to try to explain three things that Christians may disagree with.

First:  Do you believe that Jesus will return someday and take all the Christians up to heaven with him?
Second:  Will you go straight to heaven when you die?

Third:  Do you believe there’s an “End of the World?”

This week:  Let’s begin with the first question and the scripture above.  I am going to share several scriptures with you.  There will be a taking away of people and it reads that it will happen at night.  However, it will be a world-wide phenomenon because some will be taken from their beds and others will be working during the day. Let’s look back at what happened in Noah’s time; (Luke 17:26-27) “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”  Only Noah and his family who trusted in God escaped the flood and it happened suddenly.

A day like that will happen again and it may be sooner than we think the way things are going.  These verses in Luke 21:34-36 show us that in Noah’s day things were so similar to what our days are like. “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

What is it that the Believers will escape?  1 Thessalonians 1:10 tells us to “wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.”  There is coming a time when God will be finished waiting for those who do not follow Him. Here’s what is coming someday, Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.” [Revelation 16:1]

Some believe the catching away of the church (meaning those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior) will happen any day.  Others believe it will take place in the middle of the 7-year tribulation and others believe it will happen when the Battle of Armageddon takes place at the end of the Tribulation.  I only know this, when it happens I want to be ready.

Here’s how it’s going to happen. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.”   [I Thess. 4:16-17]

The Apostle Paul was looking forward to this day and in his letter to the Corinthians, he shared this with them.   “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (15:51-52) This event is going to happen so quickly we won’t have a chance to think.  My prayer is that in Luke 21:36, “Lord, may I be counted ‘worthy to escape the wrath to come?”

God's Plan for Leaders

God's Plan for Leaders

“Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees.                                                           Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments.”      Proverbs 8:15-16

Reading this scripture gave me pause to pray, “Lord God, give us a president that prays and listens to you.”  If the leaders in our government don’t follow God, our troubles become more terrible as time goes on.  We have not had a Godly president for the last 8 years and if something doesn’t change, it will continue another 4 to 8 years.

Now I don’t know about the faith of those running our government at the present time; only God knows.  I only know what I see from those in command and I have yet to see anything Godly coming from any of them.  Roman’s 13:3 tells us that government officials, should be ministers and servants of God who punish and restrain wrongdoers and who commend or praise those who do good works.

Proverbs lays is out pretty clearly: Proverbs 17:7 says rulers also should not lie. Proverbs 20:26 says wise rulers always try to punish the wicked. Proverbs 28:2-4 and 29:4 urges rulers to maintain order justly, to follow God’s moral code and to avoid oppressing the poor.  Clearly this isn’t happening in the US.

Even our former Secretary of State, because of who she is, received no correction for putting our country in danger and ignoring our people who were stationed in other countries.  Looking at some of the reasons Pres. Nixon was impeached were as follows: (1) Making or causing to be made false or misleading statements to lawfully authorized investigative officers and employees of the United States. (2) Withholding relevant and material evidence or information from lawfully authorized investigative officers and employees of the United States. (3) Approving, condoning, acquiescing in, and counseling witnesses with respect to the giving of false or misleading statements to lawfully authorized investigative officers and employees of the United States and false or misleading testimony in duly instituted judicial and congressional proceedings. Sound familiar?  Although she didn’t go to the lengths that Nixon did, her false and misleading statements took away the trust factor.

We need to pray diligently for our next president as well as the vice president.  May God direct their pathways.  Today, President Obama gave a speech and clearly stated that there is nothing wrong in our country and it has a great future.  We have nothing to worry about.  Yet earlier today in Germany terrorists were killing people in their Mall and were still on the loose.  Yesterday in Moscow, Putin set a law that there can be no sharing the Gospel on their streets, in their homes or just speaking to another about it.  What affects the world, affects our nation.

If you recall a few weeks ago I wrote a 3-part series on “A Breach in the Wall”.  In part 2 I referred to Rev. 6:4 and the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Then another horse appeared, a red one. Its rider was given a mighty sword and the authority to take peace from the earth. And there was war and slaughter everywhere.”  Since that time, people are being slaughtered everywhere and if you don’t yet realize it, “We are at War” around the world.  Our peace has been taken from us, worldwide. If ever you have doubts about Bible prophecy being true, check it out and read it yourself.

You may be sick of reading about the dark side of all of this, but I honestly feel that God is directing me to warn all of you about the things that are happening is preparing us to stand strong, follow the Bibles direction and put our faith in God only.  Our faith cannot be in a president or a leader without moral standing; our faith can be only in God Almighty and in the Bible.

There is an old hymn called “The Solid Rock” and the chorus goes like this. “On Christ, the solid Rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand.”

Does Your Heart Still Burn For God?

Does Your Heart Still Burn for God?

“And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us                                    while He talked with us on the road?”     Luke 24:32

For some time I have felt there was something missing in my relationship with the Lord.  I have really sat and contemplated what it could be.  I share the Lord with anyone I can through talking to people, writing the Bible teachings I put on line every week and try to live how the Bible shows me.  I’m certainly far from perfect and fail often, but ask the Lord’s forgiveness and go on with life.  I know others have felt the same way. So what is it that’s missing?

I receive so much literature in the mail and I can’t possibly read it all so occasionally I must sort it out.  The other day I was going through it and then tossing when I saw these words: (How, then, do we know if our love for Christ is draining away?) I really felt I should read this article by Dr. David Jeremiah.  He was writing about the words Jesus had for the church at Ephesus in Revelation 2:4, Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”

I began to think back to 1979 when I first accepted Jesus and turned my life over to him.  That day I became a new person and when my husband came home from work that day, I met him at the door with a Bible in both hands.  We sat down at the kitchen table and I shared what happened to me.  I was so filled with Jesus that I couldn’t contain it so I let him have it with both barrels.  For the first time in my life I could open a Bible and understand what it said.  I sat down at my piano and played the old hymns I had learned as a child and understood what the words meant.

Within a couple of weeks my husband asked the Lord to give him what He gave me and he was born again.  We prayed over everything and every decision we made.  I developed such a deep hunger for the Word of God that I devoured the entire Bible and began again.  I still love to read and study the Bible as much as then.  We couldn’t wait to tell everyone we knew about this wonderful thing that happened to us.

If we were in a restaurant, we just waited for someone to come in that we knew and would call them over to our table to share Jesus with them. It seemed as though we offended some of them, but nothing could contain our zeal.  We started a prayer group and soon had 30-40 join us every week.  We eventually joined a good Bible believing, spirit-filled church.  Our lives continued to grow in the Lord as we soon were asked to speak to groups of people through-out several states.  Later, we were asked to do a radio program and a weekly TV show which we did for about 2 or 3 years. We both still worked full time and after a few years found it to be too much to handle.  I still did a daily radio broadcast for some years.

Also during this time my husband was taking classes to become a minister.  Because of my musical background I took the position of Minister of Music at our church which required a lot of time with leading a choir and working with musical productions.

A day didn’t go by that I didn’t pray for my children.  I had a little bulletin board with each of their names written along with the spouses of those who were married. As time went on, one by one they asked Jesus into their hearts and serve God to this day.

This was a lot to say about my life since I got saved, but although I have steadfastly served the Lord all these years, something happened; I am missing something.  Has my love for the Lord diminished?  I still love God and always will, but is it at the depth it was?  I want my heart to burn within me; I want to feel such zeal that I have to tell everyone I meet about Jesus.

Compare your relationship with Jesus to a marriage.  If you’ve been married a few years, does your heart do a flip when he or she walks into a room?  Does he make you feel giddy when they kiss you or put their arms around you?  Probably not because you have grown into a deeper love and security for each other, but you still love them.

In the New Testament it tells the story of two men making their way to Emmaus when a stranger joined them.  They were talking of Jesus being crucified in Jerusalem and all that had happened.  They did not know that the stranger who was now walking with them was Jesus.  When they reached Emmaus they ask him to eat with them and he shared so much with them.  Suddenly their eyes were open and they realized their companion was Jesus himself.  Then he disappeared and they said to each other, “Was not our hearts burning within us as he talked?”

Do you look up at the sky and feel excited about his return?  Do you read the Bible and something strikes you that this scripture was written just for you?

The best thing to do is to think back on what the Lord has done for you. Oh, my.  There are so many things I can praise him for; all the times he has saved me from death, illness, troubled times, family hardships and many more.  He has saved my family and all that follows after them.  If I praise him for all of these things, I find the more I praise him, the more I love him.  At first I imagine a tiny spark; then a small flame and then I know my heart is burning within me.

When Jesus returns, I don’t want to be lacking, or my first love to be diminished. Let my daily prayer be, “Let my heart burn within me.”  May this also be your prayer that the love of God kindle that flame within you!

"A Breach in the Wall" (Part 3)

A Breach in the Wall
(Part 3)

“Because of the abundance of his horses, their dust will cover you; your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen, the wagons, and the chariots, when he enters your gates, as men enter a city that has been breached.”   [Ezekiel 26:10]

Each week brings about news of another tragic event and I almost dread to continue writing about them.  Since I wrote last week, Isis continues its slaughter.  In the city of Bagdad, Iraq, over 200 were killed when Isis attacked a mall and the death toll is still rising.  Hundreds were wounded in this attack.  Yesterday, Isis hit a Shite shrine with 37 dead and 62 injured.
In our own country, the killing continues as the black community and police officers clash resulting in more deaths.  Last night in Dallas, Texas, 5 police officers were killed and 7 others were wounded. As the slaughter of people around the world continues, we think back again on this ‘Breach in the Wall’ that has allowed the enemy of our souls to gather his demon hordes and come through this huge opening.

As I wrote last week that we would continue with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse this week, let’s return to Revelation 6, verse 6.  “I looked up and saw a black horse, and its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.  And I heard a voice from among the four living beings say, “A loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will cost a day’s pay. And don’t waste the olive oil and wine.”  Obviously this shows there is coming a time sooner than later, when our economy will begin to fail.  How this will play out remains to be seen, but it will happen.

This famine may not only be physical, but spiritual as well.  Right now there are churches teaching false doctrines and there is a famine of truth.  Things like the ‘Virgin Birth’, the ‘Red Sea’ parting, ‘Jonah and the Fish’ and ‘God as our Father’.  Secular Humanism makes men as gods.  Along with famine comes sickness and disease. The black horse symbolizes everything that opposes God with terrible times of evil ahead.

The fourth horse is further into the future, although there are signs now that it is coming.  “When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come and see."  So I looked, and behold, a pale (green) horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. [Revelation 6:7-8]

For those of you who like to study the book of Revelation, the four horsemen also appear by the opening of the first four seals by the Lamb of God (Jesus Christ).  After this there are 7 more seals to be opened and then the end as we know it.

I cannot end this 3-part series without mentioning the coming election.  I realize God has his hand in all of it, but as Christ Followers, we must do what we can to fight against evil forces.  The election of a new president is so much more than just voting for who you like.  You need to look ahead to the future.  What we have now will only continue with more of the same and get worse if Hilary Clinton is voted in. Yet, no one really knows what Trump will do if he gets the presidency.

What I do know is that Hilary will try to ban owning of guns. This is what happened in Germany; first the guns and then Bibles.  None of these things happen suddenly, but over time much can be accomplished.  The question is, could we ever have a Civil War again in America?  Think about who you will vote for.  Think about the present Supreme Court who stands for everything that is against God.  They carry a lot of weight and whoever is president will fill those seats with more of the same or worse when they retire or die off.

With Trump, at least I believe there will be more control as to who enters our country.  We have no idea how many coming in now are terrorists.  I believe he will secure our borders which isn’t happening now or in the future with the Democrats.  Many of us don’t even know our neighbors, especially in large cities.  This is a proven fact, when we see terrorists in your neighborhood rise up and carry on a massacre.

I know all the things I’ve been writing about the last three weeks are scary and fearful, but we must know the truth of what is going on to open our eyes to seek God.  While so many deny God in these times, a Christian can stand fearless while trusting in Him.

How can you do that?  Turn to Ephesian 6:10-12 for directions.  “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Continue reading verses 13-18 for more directions.

Hear the Word of the Lord and you will understand and know what must be done.  Then you will not live in fear, but in the peace that passes all understanding.

A Breach in the Wall

A Breach in the Wall

(Part Two)

“Because of the abundance of his horses, their dust will cover you; your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen, the wagons, and the chariots, when he enters your gates, as men enter a city that has been breached.”   [Ezekiel 26:10]
Now that the breach in the wall has happened, what comes next?  There are different things that are going to happen according to the book of Revelation in the Bible that I believe we are being prepared for.  Have you noticed all the movies being made about the ‘end times’?  We have seen several movies over the last few years about Armageddon, Apocalypse and others depicting end times in some form or another, but they are just movies and not reality.  Let’s take a look at reality.
Did you know that the word ‘Apocalypse’ means, “The lifting of the veil”?  Everyone wants to talk about an Apocalypse, but they don’t understand that God is revealing more and more about what is coming.  Chew on this for a while; the breach in the wall is getting bigger and bigger and is now large enough to allow the four horsemen to ride through.  What horsemen?  They are the Horsemen of the ‘Apocalypse’!
Revelation 6:1-7, first came a white horse (vs 2) and its rider carried a bow and was bent on winning many battles.  I believe this has already come through the breach and the battles it wins are the demons against the Christians; evil over godliness.  This week the Supreme Court has made the decision to allow females to have abortions any way they choose, without counselling, or even being under sanitary conditions.  A short time ago our (so-called) president made the unbelievable law that transgender people can use whatever bathroom they want in schools as well as public places. What comes next?
What is coming, if not already through the breach, is the red horse. Then another horse appeared, a red one. Its rider was given a mighty sword and the authority to take peace from the earth. And there was war and slaughter everywhere.”  (vs 4)  Look around and you can see slaughter around the world; you have seen it overseas in Paris and here in Florida.  Do you think it’s going to stop? Even today as I write this article I have just watched a report where Radical Islamic terrorists blew themselves up and killed 36 people at the airport in Istanbul Turkey, the third largest airport in Europe.  Maybe I don’t have to wonder if the Red Horse is coming – it looks like it has already arrived.
(We will discuss this rest of this chapter about the 4 Horsemen in Part 3.)
Now, let’s take a look at the Christian communities.  A very recent news report states that a church reported it is going to allow people who smoke marijuana to actually smoke it in the church before the service.  How is this going to help those on drugs get better or trust in God?  I know that medical marijuana is legal in this country and it may help some who are in pain, but church is expected to be a place where you can be healed - not drugged.
Then there are those mega TV churches who are preaching a Hyper-Grace message of living. You are not responsible for what you do – Jesus loves you anyway.  They say you never have to repent – because you have already been forgiven.  However, the Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 7:10For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”  Somehow their message may be what people want to hear because it absolves them from any guilt on how they are living, but the Bible speaks the true Word of God.
Why does the Bible say that the rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant?  It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth.” [Genesis 9:13]  In a spiritual sense a Covenant defines a relationship between God and man and is for eternity.  That was a covenant in the Old Testament.  When God sent his Son, Jesus to dies on the cross, a new covenant was born.  This covenant was again a relationship between God and man through the blood of Jesus. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you accept a new life and become a new person.  You do not live the way the world lives, but you try to become more like Jesus and follow what He taught us.
In Romans 1:24-27For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.   Is the rainbow that the homosexual community use as their logo have any place in the promise of God and His covenant?  I think not and I believe its use is offensive to Christians.
As we enter into the most crucial time in history regarding presidents, we must first watch the one we have in office.  Over the last 8 years, this man has disgraced the office he holds.  He has shunned the American Christian to a place where some can’t even claim to be a Christian.  He has removed chaplains from our armed forces and allows the Muslim religion to practice its daily routine.  He has cut down our armies and left us less powerful than we have ever been.
He has not made inroads in destroying Isis. He claims we are no longer a Christian nation and is trying to prove it by belittling our Christian values.  I don’t have the room to write all the ungodly things he has done, but when he has gone don’t let another of his kind in the capital.
We may not have good choices for a new president, but don’t take the chance of voting in someone who will continue in his path, or our religious freedom will be at the greatest risk we’ve ever had.  Pray that God will deliver this nation from its evil practices and make us a strong, Godly nation once again.  The lines are being drawn and the time is coming that you will have to choose which side you are on.  Do you want to please men or God?
The Breach in the Wall is getting larger every day.  Is there still hope for this country, lets pray that there is. God, we need your help!

We will continue next week with Part 3.

The Breach in the Wall is getting larger every day.  Is there still hope for this country, lets pray that there is. God, we need your help!
We will continue next week with Part 3.
